The safest and best season to travel starts from April to October. During the month of November, the sky of Cusco becomes cloudy and the rains become more constant and strong, December to March. The route from Cusco to the town of Santa María is paved, 05 hours approximately, however, the route from this town to Hidroeléctrica is an unpaved road (trocha), 1 hour and 30 minutes approximately.
The trip from Cusco to Machu Picchu by The Hydroelectric Route is mainly Adventure and is also the most economical.
