1st
Day

Cusco - Hydroelectric Bus Station

We recommend having breakfast early. The bus trip lasts around 7 hours:

5 - 6 hours paved route

1 hour and 30 minutes unpaved route.

After 5 hours traveling by bus We arrive at the town of Santa María, we'll take a rest and have lunch here, the trip to the Hydroelectric Bus Station is an unpaved route from this town.

The hiking to the town of Aguas Calientes starts from the Hydroelectric Bus Station and lasts around 2 hours and 30 minutes, the route is simple and is mostly by the train rails.

Upon arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes, 17:30 hours approx. The accommodation staff will be waiting for you. The establishment and staff are really good, at night, our guide will give you an informative dinner about the next day tour.

Day

Aguas Calientes Town - Machu Picchu

Dear traveler, this day we'll get up very early, 4 AM. After breakfast we go to the bus station to board the first buses to the citadel of Machu Picchu, the buses leave from 05:20 AM.

Our guide will be waiting for you and the rest of our group at the Access Door, the guided tour lasts about 2 hours and after that we'll go to the Mountain access door and register. After visiting the mountain, you'll have free time to visit the citadel of Machu Picchu on your own, we recommend returning to the town by bus around 4 pm.

Once at the hotel you'll have time to visit the town or thermal baths.

Day

Aguas Calientes Town - Cusco

Waking up in Aguas Calientes Town is really nice. Breakfast is served from 06:30 a.m. And the return journey to the bus station can start at the time you think is convenient to you. The stretch from the town to the bus station lasts about 3 hours, the buses are available from 14:15 hours, the buses depart at 14:45 hrs. You can take this time to have lunch and rest.

The bus is arriving to Cusco city around 21 hours. Our service concludes in San Francisco Square, downtown, see map.

If you want to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu PIcchu Mountain, We recommend you return by train to the city of Cusco or book the 3-day tour.
Returning By Train to Cusco
If you decide to return by train to Cusco at last moment, You have to purchase your train tickets at Peru Rail or Inca Rail offices, it is highly unlikely that you can get seats on high season, May - August. If you book return by train, our service includes transfer from the train station in Ollantaytambo to the city of Cusco by bus.
Returning By Train to Hydroelectric Bus Station

If you wish to return to Hydroelectric by train, read the following information:

  • The sale of train tickets is until noon.
  • The train ride lasts around 45 minutes.
  • The price is $34USD per person.
  • This service is provided only by Perurail.
You can only purchase the train tickets until noon and by Perurail.
