Cusco - Hydroelectric Bus Station

We recommend having breakfast early. The bus trip lasts around 7 hours:

5 - 6 hours paved route

1 hour and 30 minutes unpaved route.

After 5 hours traveling by bus We arrive at the town of Santa María, we'll take a rest and have lunch here, the trip to the Hydroelectric Bus Station is an unpaved route from this town.

The hiking to the town of Aguas Calientes starts from the Hydroelectric Bus Station and lasts around 2 hours and 30 minutes, the route is simple and is mostly by the train rails.

Upon arrival at the town of Aguas Calientes, 17:30 hours approx. The accommodation staff will be waiting for you. The establishment and staff are really good, at night, our guide will give you an informative dinner about the next day tour.

  • Hiking time: 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Aguas Calientes Town - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Dear traveler, this day we'll get up very early, 4 AM. After breakfast we go to the bus station to board the first buses to the citadel of Machu Picchu, the buses leave from 05:20 AM.

Our guide will be waiting for you and the rest of our group at the Access Door. The guided tour lasts 2 hours, but you can visit the place on your own until 11:30 hrs.Then you must descend on foot to Puente Ruinas and return to the hydroelectric station by the train rails, descend to Puente Ruinas will take around 45 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours to the Bus Station. The bus will be waiting for you from 14:15 hours until 14:45 hours, the return trip to Cusco will take about 7 hours. Our service will end upon arriving the City.

Dear passenger, It's really necessary carry your luggage and belongings with you on second day, because we won't return to the town. You can store them in the Park's luggage storage, this service has an additional cost. To get at time to The Bus Station, we recommend to our passengers visit Machu Picchu until 11:30 hours. You'll find the path back easier.

If you want to visit Huayna Picchu or Machu PIcchu Mountain, We recommend you return by train to the city of Cusco or book the 3-day tour.
Returning By Train to Cusco
If you decide to return by train to Cusco at last moment, You have to purchase your train tickets at Peru Rail or Inca Rail offices, it is highly unlikely that you can get seats on high season, May - August. If you book our 2-Day tour and returning by train, the service includes transfer by bus from the train station in Ollantaytambo to the city of Cusco.
Returning By Train to Hydroelectric Bus Station

If you decide to return by train to Hydroelectric Bus Station at last moment, here some info:

  • Price is $34.00USD per person
  • Journey takes about 45 minutes.
  • You can visit Machu Picchu until noon.
  • The Train leaves at 13:30 hours.
You can only purchase the train tickets until noon and by Perurail.
