Archaeological Center of Pisaq

The citadel of Pisaq is located 30 kilometers northwest of Cusco. On our tour we will visit the colonial town and the archaeological center of Pisaq. The archaeological center or citadel of Pisaq is located on a steep mountain and occupies an area of more than 4 kilometers. The archaeological center contains different areas, military, residential and also a cemetery with a large number of Inca tombs located on a cliff. It also contains an Inti Watana (solar clock), perfect stone masonry temples, ceremonial baths and water channels. The citadel is surrounded by Inca platforms located on the slopes of the mountains.

Urubamba Town

The town of Urubamba is located in the middle of the villages of Pisaq and Ollantaytambo, it is a place of passage for all tourists who visit the Sacred Valley, there are many restaurants and hotels inside and outside the town, however, it still retains its style Colonial and its traditions.

Archaeological Center of Ollantaytambo

Considered the last Inca city still alive, the streets of the town of Ollantaytambo are paved with stone paving stones, the walls have the same Inca design and are still intact, the water channels made with carved stone still run throughout the town.

The town of Ollantaytambo was formerly an Inca temple and fortress. At the top of the fortress there is a ceremonial area, surrounded by 3 gigantic granite stones joined and adjusted to each other. The village is surrounded by several Inca terraces, they’re located on the steep slopes of the mountains that surround the town. Ollantaytambo was one of the places where the last most important battle between the Spanish and the ruling Manco Inca took place.

Archaeological Center of Chinchero and Town

It is the most typical village in the Sacred Valley, it is known as the town of Rainbow, it is also very popular for beautiful fabrics. The current church of Chichero was a palace in the past and belonged to the Inca Tupac Yupanqui, it was destroyed in 1607 by the Spaniards, now it is called Church of Our Lady of Monserrat. The town is surrounded by the snowy Salkantay, Veronica and Soray. These snow-covered mountains and their extensive agricultural fields make the place a beautiful and ideal landscape to take photos and especially for adventure tourism activities.

Our tour ends in Regocijo Square, downtown.
