Factors to Consider before Booking Tickets for any of the Machu Picchu Mountains

  • We recommend returning to Cusco on the third day, the trip will be easier and you will enjoy much more, you can also visit the Mandor waterfalls that are halfway to the bus station.
  • If you decide to visit the citadel and some of its mountains, and return to Cusco by bus on the same day, the tour will be quick and you will not be able to enjoy your visit, you are also likely to miss the bus.
  • If you decide to visit the citadel, ascent one of its mountains, and return to Cusco by bus on the same day, this is the reality: time is not enough, but if you decide to do so, changing some details of your itinerary, you won't enjoy fully your visit to the citadel of Machu Picchu.
  • If you wish to visit the citadel, climb one of its mountains, and return to Cusco on the same day, the best option is to return by train. We recommend booking your train tickets several days in advance, as prices increase during high season and seats are often limited.
